I loved this book! It left me with such happiness and the biggest smile on my face. My ONLY complaint is that I didn’t want it to end! I was like please keep going! I want to see the rest of their fairytale! In this book there is so much heart break and mistrust, and two of the sweetest characters have to deal with pain and heartbreak. (It just broke my heart!)I absolutely loved how the book was told from both sides. You know exactly what Jenn and Shane are thinking, but yet they don’t know each others thoughts.
My heart just reached out for Jenn from the get go! To have to deal with her family, especially her sister, I just don’t know how she did it! Personally, I would have wanted to crawl in a hole and die! Instead she took her negative and made it positive by focusing on her work…. even though that is all she had in life.
Shane is so kind-hearted and in love with Chelsea. When he is overseas, he gets his heart broken. He has to make a decision of on his R&R to go to NC or make a detour to Maine to visit the only family he has…. let’s just say he makes the best decision ever!
Jake and May are also extremely important characters in this book. Jake is Shane’s cousin and Jenn’s boss. May is his wife, and is one of the most fun loving individuals ever! I hope everyone has a May in their life! If you don’t, you’re missing out! Jake and May have their own struggles that really tie all the events together. I really feel that these two helped make the book because without them there are a TON of missing pieces!
This book touched my heart and soul. I think part of it is due to my cousin being deployed right now, and we are counting down until he gets home (58 Days!!!) There are other events that play into the relationships between Jenn and Shane. Both Jenn and Shane are dealt a pretty bad hand in life when it comes to relationships, but they create their own fairytale. In fact, I know that Shane STOLE my heart! He just wouldn’t give up on Jenn. He had an internal desire to get to know her. I loved how he wanted to make her happy, didn’t want to hurt her, valued their friendship, and let go of that tough guy image. I love the fact that he was a constant and wanted to remain constant.
I had a really hard time writing this review because I didn’t want to give any spoilers! When I think about the emotions that are involved in the book, I can’t help but want to tell you every little detail. In fact, here are just a few of how I felt while reading in no particular order: workaholic, that bitch!, hurt, anger, need, heartbroken, unsure, trusting, loving, faithful, time to put your big girl panties on, Eeeeeekkkkkk, and real life.
Teresa Mummert does an out of this world job at making Jenn and Shane’s fairytale come true! This story is REAL. There is no other way to put it. You will not be disappointed! Get your copy of Suicide Note on March 15th. Let me know if you felt like you heart was going to burst open like mine at the end because FAIRYTALES DO COME TRUE!
