Chelly’s Thoughts <3:
After being betrayed and getting her heart broken by both her best friend and her boyfriend, Bailey Hart has sworn off guys. She will spend her summer focusing on basketball and her future, which hopefully takes her away from Milton, Oklahoma – a small town where everyone knows everyone and rumors run rampant. But then she sees him – who is this attractive new stranger in town?
Ty Jacobs is the new guy in town. He moved from Detroit to finish his senior year in Milton but one knows why – and he’s not willing to share that information. When he sees Bailey running one afternoon, he’s determined he has to meet her. He doesn’t know what the attraction is, but he’s not letting it go. Bailey is still holding strong on her vow to stay away from boys, but she can’t deny her attraction to Ty. She wants to trust him, but she can’t shake the feeling that he is hiding something from her. Can Ty convince Bailey that not all guys are like her ex? Will she give him the chance to prove it?
Stay With Me is a sweet story of love and learning to forgive, but I think it was a little bit much to be considered YA. I felt like everything kept moving too fast and some major situations just kind of got glossed over like it was no big deal. I loved the characters and the author did a great job of developing them, but sometimes they spoke and acted waaay too mature to be in high school. All in all, I enjoyed the story and it is a great debut novel from Abigail Kerber! I am looking forward to more, especially with that ending…I hate cliffhangers! 😉
