LEAVING AMARILLO cover artLeaving Amarillo synopsis:

Dixie Lark hasn’t had it easy. She lost her parents in an accident when she was young and grew up in a ramshackle house on a dirt road in Amarillo with her ailing grandparents and overprotective older brother. Thanks to her grandfather, Dixie learned to play a mean fiddle, inspired by the sounds of the greats—Johnny and June, Waylon, and Hank. Her grandfather’s fiddle changed Dixie’s life forever, giving her an outlet for the turmoil of her broken heart and inspiring a daring dream.

Ten years later, Dixie and her brother, Dallas, are creating the music they love and chasing fame with their hot band, Leaving Amarillo. But Dixie isn’t enjoying the ride. All she can think about is Gavin, the band’s tattooed, tortured drummer who she’s loved since they were kids. She knows he feels the connection between them, but he refuses see her as more than his best friend’s little sister.

Convinced that one night with Gavin will get him out of her system, Dixie devises a plan. She doesn’t know that her brother has forbidden Gavin from making a move on her-a promise he swore he’d always keep . . . a promise that once broken will unexpectedly change the future for Dixie, Gavin and the band.

Loss, Love, and putting your feelings to the side for the sake of the band.  That is what Dixie has been doing for as long as she can remember. Her brother, Dallas, his childhood friend,Gavin, and Dixie make up the band Leaving Amarillo.  After losing their parents at a young age Dallas and Dixie moved in with their grandparents who loved and cared for them, but Gavin didn’t have that kind of life.

When Austin Music Fest has a cancellation it’s what the band has been looking for.  They pile in the van, and pray that this is a chance to finally make it.  What Dixie doesn’t expect is to final let her feelings for Gavin come to the forefront, but she referees to let it interfere with the band.

After demanding answers from Gavin about why he never touches her at all to making him an offer of one night, their worlds change.   There’s one problem.  Gavin has promised to never touch her, but Dixie has always been more to him.

Just when things are going well and there’s a chance of a record deal, tragedy strikes.  This makes their world stop, but there’s something Gavin’s not telling Dixie.  When she finds out, he’s livid of the danger he’s putting himself in, but it’s all for the sake of the band.

Leaving Amarillo is a story that pulled me in from page one, brought tears to my eyes with the first line of chapter 30, and had me pulling for a HEA.  You will not be disappointed at Caisey Quinn’s newest release; in fact, you’ll be dying for the Loving Dallas.
