Blessed. Stressed. Reading Obsessed.

WOW, Y’all!   How in the world has it been TWO years since I last wrote on this blog?  I honestly can’t believe how fast that time has flown.

Hardcover Therapy is back and I’m so excited I can hardly stand it.  I might have to cut a cartwheel… or maybe not.  Instead, I’ll go and run a few miles.  However, there will be a few changes.  Did you see that tagline?  Blessed, Stressed and Reading Obsessed?  What did you think?

For me personally, I know I’m not alone.  My cup is running over and I truly am blessed with my faith, family, career(s), and so much more.  The past two years I have had some ups and downs, but no matter what, I have remained positive.  I want to always show a positive light on life.

Life can get a little stressful at times, but I wouldn’t trade my life for the world.  I think all of us women can relate to that. (The everyday things that have to be done at home, running our children to extracurriculars, the extra bill showing up in the mail, etc.)

Hardcover Therapy will now be a place for us as women to come to enjoy the little things in life called blessings, find ways to remove the little stresses, and of course, discuss the books we are obsessing over.

Since I took a break from this site here’s what has happened in my life…

Carlee & Billy are still my top priorities.  I love spending every moment I can with them and my family/friends.  The past two years I’ve grown so much in my own skin it’s crazy. For the first time in my life, I’m okay with me inside and out.  I’ve realized that as long as my faith is strong, my family is by my side, and I remain positive through the hard times that I will be fine in this life.  I’ve truly started to embrace the small moments in life.  I can put down my phone or laptop and take a moment to bake cookies with Carlee or to have a lunch date with my husband with my phone on silent.  It can wait… they are what truly matter in life.

Author Casey Peeler has written a total of nine full-length novels and five novellas.  It has been amazing and I’ve learned so much about myself as a writer as well.  I’m def still that #SweetSouthernReads kinda girl.  I’ve got a new release in March with several WIP currently.

I’ve dilly-dallied in two direct sales companies- Plunder Design & NuSkin.  Plunder Design was brought to me by one of my fabulous readers, Olivia.  She had the cutest jewelry and it had a very unique southern style to it.  She stayed on me for six months before I gave in.  It’s very southern chic and super affordable.  Y’all like the average price is $20 or less!  Now, I just dilly with it and have an online site.

NuSkin Cooperate Office Provo, UT

NuSkin however changed my life with one little tube of toothpaste.   In February, I came across it and said why not.  It’s free to join.  Needless to say my husband was like what in the heck are you selling now. LOL. Little did we know that our lives were about to change.  My husband worked for an assisted living facility and wanted to step out on his own.  This business allowed us to be able to do that without the worry of making sure we had a roof over our heads and bills paid.  Ya know what I mean?  I didn’t know at the time that I would fall head over boots for this company, products, and beliefs.  The company is one I believe in and will be going to South Africa in March as a reward for my success.  Why does this matter?  Well, here’s where things get interesting.

As a child I was obsessed with Africa.  My Mom always believed I’d be her missionary in Kenya.  So for me, this is a dream come true to visit.  Their Nourish the Children foundation has touched my heart, and soon I’ll be an ambassador for the company.  What does this mean?  I will be able to go and do the outreach my Mom believed I’d do as a child.  It’s funny how things come full circle isn’t it?  Has that ever happened to you?

Shug & Honey tee accented with Plunder earrings

Last May,  my sister and I launched a women’s shirt line called Shug & Honey which is featured in my stories.  It’s been fun to work with her and create southern style shirts along with unique watercolor designs.  There have been some ups and downs with this business.  We are both mom bosses and sometimes this is what gets put on the back burner.  It’s an adventure we enjoy but def more of a hobby for us.

All of these items are featured under my SHOP tab.

Now to life…

During the past two years, I’ve discovered who I AM.  I am strong, goal oriented, determined who loves her faith, family, and living life to the fullest.

JuneBug Jam my 1 year RUNiversary

If you would have asked me a little over a year and a half ago to run a marathon, I’d have laughed at you!  Y’all in SEVEN days I’ll be running 26.2 miles at the Charleston Marathon!  I use to only run if something was chasing me, but two friends changed that with a 5k.  Needless to say, it created a fire in my feet and I LOVE it.  I’ve had some BIG goals for this race, and it’s all about mindset.  So bring on that 3:45 and keep pushing for the 3:40!  I promise to let you know how it goes.
Running has seriously helped me realized a lot about myself.  I’m strong, determined, consistent, and it’s the time I take for myself four days a week.  It’s like when I sit down and escape in a good book.

So tell me…

How has your life changed the past two years?  Are you looking for a place to connect with women who are busy moms who want to escape the everyday hustle with a good book?  If so, stay tuned because I’ve got the place for you.

With Love & Mason Jars!

One ending is another beginning…

Hey Y’all!

Most of you know that since I began this journey as Hardcover Therapy my life has changed tremendously.  I’ve gone from reader/reviewer to author/reader/reviewer.

Over the past few months, balancing both sites has become difficult.  I’ve felt pulled in what I need to do because this site is where it all began, but I’ve made the decision to move my blog post to my author website.

After today, I will continue to review, post my favorite titles, give recommendations for books, country music, and southern style, but it will be on at Author Casey Peeler.

I’m so thankful for each and every one of you that visit this website daily, weekly, monthly, or whenever you have a spare moment.  Please take a moment to follow me on my author page.  I love seeing your comments and thoughts.  You’ve been my family since I started this crazy journey, and I would love nothing more than you to continue on this adventure with me.

With <3,

Casey Peeler aka Hardcover Therapy

One bottle of Jack and the words “I’m sorry” are all it takes for Charley’s world to turn upside down… again. Charley has a decision to make. Does she sink or swim?

After Dylan reminds Charley that he always has the upper hand, she decides it’s time break free. But how? She uses her past, present, and what she hopes to be her future to find her freedom.

With the help of Cash Money and the Kluft Girls, she devises a plan to take down Dylan. Will she succeed, or will she find that she will never escape his hold? Once this plan is put in place, who will be by her side when it comes to an end? And will this plan include Jackalope Joe?

We push through the glass door and past the bouncer who eyes me from head to toe as we make our way into Hank’s.  Of course, we form our usual beeline to the bathroom and the stall with no door.

“All right, ladies, what’s the plan tonight?  Who’s getting a piece before they go home for a month?” Hayden questions.  She scans all of us, and most have their hands raised but Georgia and me.  “Char, I hate to break it to you, but if you don’t get a piece, it’s your own damn fault.  Georgia, we know you well enough to know that you’re gonna have those hips rockin’ the dance floor with one guy all night long.”

I just shake my head.  Sometimes being sober isn’t fun.  Hell, it never is, but tonight’s about cutting lose and staying in control.

We make our way to the bar and order Bud Lights all around plus my water.  Then, it’s to the dance floor.  The sound of Flo Rida’s “Wild Ones” echoes through the speakers, and we know exactly what to do.  We hit the dance floor and go hard.  It’s about us girls having a good time tonight. Here we don’t have to worry about some ass trying to interrupt or put moves on us that we don’t want.  Hayden starts acting a fool by doing that damn sprinkler dance move, and I totally lose it.  We all take turns goofing off and busting out old school moves.

When Drake’s “Started from the Bottom” comes across the speakers, we quit goofing off and start dancing our asses off.  Before we know what’s going on, the entire baseball team is surrounding us and enjoying the view.  Songs bleed from one to the next. Once sweat begins to drip down my back, I pull my hair up into a messy bun and continue to enjoy the night.

By song number four, a smokin’ hot baseball player has his strong hands wrapped around my waist.  I swear I’ve just met Chipper Jones fifteen years ago!  I continue to dance and take in the aroma of sweat and Dolce and Gabbana.  Holy crap.  I never thought those two things would go together.  The songs change pace and begin to slow.  I know I need to separate myself from him, because at this point I’m not looking for someone new.  As I start to pull away, he grabs my hand and pulls me close.

“Hey, Char, I’m Tucker, or can I call you Squirrel?”  I must have looked like a damn deer in headlights because I completely froze.  No one called me that but Joe.  WTF?  My breath begins to heighten, and I can feel sweat building under my arms.  Tucker must have noticed as well.  “Um, did I say something wrong?  I thought that was your nickname?”

I swallow hard.  “Well, that’s what Joe calls me.”

“So, is it okay if I call you that?”  His eyes looked as sincere as they could with the amount of alcohol he had flowing in his veins.  I shake my head no.

“I’d rather you not.”

“All right, but just so you know, he’s a complete idiot for letting you go that easy.”  Here we go.  Another night with my drama.  What do I do?  I have to get him to shut up about Joe before I freakin’ lose it.  I take my hands and run them up his washboard stomach.  I can feel every chiseled ab and indention.  I look up at him, and he gets the point.  Not one more word about Joe.  As the song comes to an end, he pulls me in close and lifts my chin.  “Like I said, he’s a fuckin’ idiot.”  Then his lips brush mine.

My mind takes a moment to focus on what is going on.  Warm, soft, hungry lips are covering mine. Tucker pulls away from me and kisses my forehead as the next song, “Roar” by Katy Perry, begins to play. I start to laugh inside thinking about Hayden and then I glance at the Kluft girls who are thinking the exact same thing.  I smile at Tucker and make my way to the Kluft girls about the time the chorus begins, and we begin to sing at the top of our lungs.  You would have thought our life depended on it.

I know it’s near closing time, which means the one song that always ends a night at Hank’s is about to be played.  I push that thought to the back of my brain and just let loose for the next twenty minutes.  When the first chord of “Let’s Get It On” begins to play, I back away from the dance floor.

As I turn to walk away, piercing blue eyes are staring back at me. Joe.  Joe’s here?  My heart begins to hurt.  I want to forgive him, but just can’t.  Not yet.

Joe gives me no option.  He takes my hand and guides me back to the dance floor.  Georgia looks like she is shooting darts straight at him.  He ignores her and wraps his arms around mine.  I drop my head to his chest and tears begin to fall.  Why can’t my nightmare end?  Why?

We attempt to dance, but our worlds have stopped.  He stands with his arms around my trembling body, and I look up to him as the song ends.  Barely audible words escape his lips. “Squirrel, I’m here when you’re ready.”

I wipe the tears from my face as I pull myself from his embrace.  I turn and leave him standing alone on the dance floor.  The Kluft girls are waiting for me at the door. Georgia pulls me in for a hug.  We exit Hank’s and pile into the Love Machine, and I don’t look back.  As I take a deep breath, crank the van, and begin to pull out, I see Joe walking out of Hank’s.  Our eyes meet, and I turn my head as quickly as possible.  I do not want to feel any connection to Joe, but my heart tells me otherwise.

GoT Soundtrack

Casey’s Thoughts <3:

I have been a Kylie Ryans fan since day one of opening Girl with Guitar!  Kylie is full of life, put herself out there, and has fallen for Trace Corbin… enough said!

Girl on Tour picks up where Girl with Guitar ends… Kylie is now an up and coming country music star.  She is going on tour with two other girls… which is going to get interesting!  (Put 3 girls on a tour bus, and their is bound to be drama!)

Trace, on the other hand, is having to tour with the female version of himself.  He knows this tour will make or brake his career… and it looks like the label wants to break him… hence, Gretchen Gibson!

Kylie and Trace put their relationship to the test.  Will it survive?  Will the media destroy it?  Those are questions that I continued to ask myself.  I will have to say that you see more of Kylie’s true colors within this book.  She is willing to stand up for people she believes in, but then doubts the one man that she loves.

Trace tries his hardest to be the man that he should be for Kylie.  He truly struggles with this both internally & externally.  I just wanted to take Trace, hug him, and tell him you are good enough.  You can be what Kylie deserves and much more.

This book isn’t happy go lucky.  In fact, I had a mix of emotions throughout.  You see Kylie grow in her self, career, and relationships with other.  Trace’s old habits are put to the test, and by the end of book 2, you will smile inside for Trace…. then you just might want to tell Kylie to put her big girl panties on!

I can’t wait to see the final Chapter in Kylie & Trace’s series…. Girl in Love releasing soon!

Truth Playlist pic

Get to know Aleatha Romig!

1. Do you listen to music while writing? If so, what’s your favorite?

Sometimes. When I do listen to music it is usually Elton John, Billy Joel, or jazz. I truly like quiet.

2. Is there a snack and/or drink that you always have to have while writing?

If it is earlier in the day, I love my coffee. As the day progresses, I like iced tea—then if it is after dinner, I tend to like wine!

3. Did anything inspire you to write “Consequences” and “Truth”? Or was it more random than anything?

I believe it was more random. I had the “thought” of the opening scene of Consequences. Everything has grown from that. The characters have taken on lives and personalities of their own. I’ve loved watching them blossom!

4. Do you have any advice for aspiring writers, like myself? What is something that you learned as an experienced writer, that you wish you knew before publishing your first book?

Ha ha! I love that you consider me “experienced”—I don’t. I consider myself new in this amazing world. That said, I’ve learned a lot in the short time I’ve been in the writing world, and I continue to learn more all the time! Just last week I was in Atlanta at the RWA national meeting. I walked away so inspired by the successful authors, I quit my job! What I’ve learned personally, is to write what you love—write what you know—write what you want to read. You aren’t alone. If you enjoy writing it, someone will enjoy reading it. (and some won’t—but that’s all right). I’ve also learned that there is an AMAZING network of authors who are incredibly generous with their knowledge. All you need to do is ask. At RWA I learned I need to write—write—write! The truly successful authors are producing books at an amazing pace. That is why I knew I needed to leave my dental hygiene job. It wasn’t an easy decision. I loved my coworkers, dentist, and patients, but I just couldn’t do it all anymore. I decided writing needs to be my priority.

5. Can you name some funny and/or random things that happened while you were writing

“Truth”? (It can be something that happened in the story, or something that happened with your family. Anything at all!)

I wrote about six beginnings to Truth. That’s based on the Epilogue of Consequences. I took the story many different directions. It wasn’t until I came to terms with where I wanted the story to go that I was finally able to start truly writing. Once I did, Mr. Jeff told me that no one would like it. He said the readers would be upset. It wasn’t that I didn’t care—but, I can’t write that way. I have to write what I want to write.

I’ve learned that it isn’t possible to please EVERYONE. Therefore, I’ve decided to please myself. Funny thing—the ratings and reviews are fantastic for Truth.

6. In three words, describe Tony. In another three words, describe Claire.

Tony—complicated—broken—and unaware

7. Tell me a bit about yourself. What was your childhood like?

I’m married to my high school sweetheart. We have three great children—two grown and graduated from college and one still in high school. My family and my writing are my two priorities in life. I love to travel. That has been a great bonus with writing. I’m so excited to travel and meet readers. It is a very exciting time for Mr. Jeff and me.

My childhood was a long time ago. I was raised by a single mother who did her best. I always wanted brothers and sisters. I’m blessed with siblings from marriage, but I basically grew up an only child. I swore I wouldn’t do that to my child…thus three!

8. When did you start writing novels?

I began Consequences, my first novel, in 2010.

9. As you’re also a novelist, who was or is your favorite author when you grew up and why?

I wasn’t much of a reader until I had to read “The Incredible Journey” for a report. It was the first time a book held me captive. My favorite novel of all time is “Gone With The Wind”. I honestly fell away from reading while my children were little. It was John Grisham who brought me back. I love thrillers. I love trying to figure things out and being surprised. Since then, my interests have broadened—Romantic Suspense—Erotic—Psychological Thrillers… I enjoy a wide range.

10. Who is your inspiration?

I have met many authors who I consider inspirational; however, I’d say my grandmothers were my inspiration. That isn’t because they wrote books—they showed me, by example, how hardwork and sincerity make a lasting impression.

My Thoughts ❤

I have been anxiously awaiting Undescribable for months now… Thanks to getting to know Shantel and hosting her blog tour. I have to say for a debut novel… It is on fire…like smoking, blazing, gonna take 25 firetrucks to put out those flames…and that’s putting it lightly 😉

Samantha Hall is one strong young lady, she is independent and has started fresh. What she doesn’t know is how much her life can change with someone’s wrong decisions… for the better.

Slade is a lawyer by day and cocky playboy by night. He doesn’t want a relationship with a woman… That’s just not necessary…. Until he hears an angels voice on the phone… His life is forever changed in that moment. I honestly felt like a fly on the wall during that moment within the book… His face had to have been priceless! (At least it was in my mind!)

One aspect of this book I ❤ was how everyone was connected… Even before Samantha and Slade met… She was a part of his family. In fact, the Long family in itself makes you feel welcomed as well… Just like you belong there. I can honestly see Vivian welcoming me in for a glass of wine!

This book is H-O-T!… And it starts out that way. Shantel has done a phenomenal job at describing every detail within the storyline. You can picture exactly what is going on… Locations, dress, people, background noises, and even the most minor detail doesn’t go unnoticed. She makes you feel as if you are part of the story… Sitting back and watching.

Like I said before, this book is on fire, hot, and will leave you wanting more. There were multiple times while reading…. I was thinking hot damn!!! These two characters are perfect for each other… If they will not worry about their hearts breaking into a million pieces.

Don’t think that this book is just a hot, steamy romance… it’s not… It has a storyline that is real, it will have your heart breaking, twisting, and screaming because you can truly understand Samantha… as well, as how much someone can love another wholeheartedly… And when it breaks it’s undescribable!

I can only keep my fingers cross that this story doesn’t end here… I have to know what happens in the next chapter for Slade & Samantha… Or maybe Josh & Courtney!! Either way I want more!

Vacationista by Tara Simone

A broken heart. A ticket to paradise. A resort full of honeymooners …
the last thing newly single Patience De La Rosa needs if she’s to find a candidate for a casual rebound.
Her luggage catching a flight to Mauritius instead of Maui doesn’t help matters and a maxed out credit
card doesn’t buy a girl a fresh pair of panties. Then there’s the annoying weird guy, the one who’s married
to his laptop, sitting beside her at the pool.

Odds for a fling improve when three single, sexy and willing candidates cross her path. Though
Patience’s luggage may be M.I.A., her breakup baggage crossed the Pacific with her. Will Patience cast it
aside, throw caution to the tropical winds and indulge in island debauchery? Or will a tea leaf reader’s
prediction about her romantic excursions come true in unexpected ways?

“Vacationista is a sparkling romantic-comedy gem with one of the wittiest
heroines I have read in ages! Full of zingy one-liners, clever quips and
some of the best dialogue ever!”  -NYT and USA Today Bestselling Author Lauren Blakely
