TGIF! AND…. Storyteller is live today! It feels as if I’ve been waiting on this forever, and if the four singles that have been released are any indication of what’s to come… it’s going to be ah-maz-ing!
A few weeks ago I heard Smoke Break by Carrie Underwood, and it made me smile. It’s life, and totally makes perfect sense. It made me reflect on my life right now. It’s crazy busy with balancing family life, writing, blogging, and my full time job. Sometimes when life gets out of control and we want to take a few moments for ourself we should pause and take a “smoke break.”
It also made me think about several novels, but one in particular-Crashing Tides. Crashing Tides is about how one moment can change your life. At the time you think your world is closing in, but as time moves on you realize that was your life plan.
Remember, at the end of the day, life is precious, cherish the ones you love, and take a moment for yourself every once in a while!
As for me, I can’t wait for work to be over today so I can listen to #Storyteller on repeat. Country music is my biggest inspiration as an author, and Carrie Underwood never ceases to amaze me. She’s not only a phenomenal role model, but she stays true to herself. In the world we live being true to yourself is SO important!
Check out these other FABULOUS country songs that include a little smoke!
Smoke A Little Smoke by Eric Church
Smoke When I Drink by Kelleigh Bannen
Smokin’ and Drinkin’ by Miranda Lambert featuring Little Big Town
Smoke by A Thousand Horses

Ball In Hand
Author: Libby Thomas
Genre: Contemporary Romance
When Sam Middleton catches her classy boyfriend in the throes of a supremely unclassy affair, she retreats to the comfort of a dingy bar that reminds her of home. There, a much younger man entices her to play a game of pool.
He needs a roommate. She needs a place to stay. One thing leads to another and Sam finds herself moving into an apartment building full of college boys. Sam is not easily enticed by the bevy of young studs, but the ambient testosterone causes Sam to reevaluate her position and thrust herself back into the dating pool-table that is.
Dating is much more fun now that she is older, wiser, and the ball is in her hand-so to speak.

After catching her boyfriend with another woman, Sam Middleton is drinking her sorrows away in a dingy bar. Seeing herself as a plain-Jane, she’s not used to a lot of attention from men, but when a college junior named Mike offers to play her in a game of pool, she figures why not? She’s 27, he’s in college, she’ll never see him again…but will her insecurities get in the way?
Luke Holder, a politics professor, comes home to find his girlfriend moving out. He didn’t really love her so it wasn’t that hard on him, he hasn’t really cared for anyone since Clarisa. After seeing his twin brother blissfully happy and married, he decides he wants the same and it’s time for some changes – starting with his depressing apartment and a new woman.
Sam works at an animal shelter and is very passionate about her job. In fact, the dogs are the only things that make her happy it seems. Thinking back now that it’s over, Sam realizes just how crappy her relationship was. She needs somewhere to go, and it just so happens that Mike (who they have both decided will be JUST a friend) is looking for a roommate. Could it really be so bad living with a bunch of college guys until she gets back on her feet?
When Luke goes to visit his brother Mike, he runs into a very naked Sam. He is instantly attracted to her and wants to know more about her. Sam wants to spread her wings and gain more experience with men, but she can’t quit thinking about Luke. However, new relationships bring new doubts and insecurities. Can Luke and Sam find what they are looking for in each other, or will they let a good thing pass them by?
Ball In Hand is a great debut novel from a brand new author, Libby Thomas. I fell in love with the characters she created, but Charlie (the dog) is by far my favorite! I loved how fun and protective the boys were, and the story over all just made me happy. I’ll be looking forward to more from this author!
